Privacy
What Pitch Finder SA collects, why, and what you can do about it. Last updated 1 November 2026.
The short version
- You can browse every pitch without an account. We don’t use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies.
- An account is only needed to post reviews and photos and to help fill in pitch details.
- “Use my location” stays in your browser. It is never sent to us.
- We don’t sell your information or share it for advertising.
- You can delete your account at any time, and what you posted goes with it.
Your account
When you sign up we keep your name, email address and password. Passwords are stored scrambled (hashed), so nobody, including us, can read them. If you turn on two-factor login or passkeys, we keep what’s needed for those too.
We use your email address to confirm it’s yours, to reset your password, and to reply about clubs you suggest. We don’t send marketing emails.
What you post
- Reviews are public with your name, unless you tick “Post anonymously”. Then other people see “Anonymous player”, but site admins can still see who wrote it, to deal with reports.
- Photos are checked by an admin before they appear. We resize them and remove the hidden details phones add, including where the photo was taken. Please don’t upload photos that show people’s faces.
- “Is it busy?” check-ins are only ever shown as totals, never with your name.
- Answers about pitch details (lights, goals, toilets and so on) update the pitch once people agree. They aren’t shown with your name.
- Saved pitches and “My clubs” are private to you.
- Clubs you suggest and feedback you send are seen by the site’s admins.
Your location
If you press “Use my location”, your browser asks your permission and then works out which pitches are near you. Your location stays on your device: it isn’t sent to us or saved.
Cookies and technical records
- Cookies that keep you logged in and protect forms from misuse (and a “remember me” cookie if you choose it).
- Cookies that remember your light or dark mode and how the menu is laid out.
- While you’re logged in, we keep a record of your session, including your IP address and browser type, for security.
- If you report a review or photo without being logged in, we keep a scrambled version of your IP address, never the address itself, so the same person can’t report it over and over.
Other services we use
A few companies handle data for us so the site can run. They only get what they need for their part:
- Our hosting and storage provider keeps the site, its database and the photos.
- Our email provider delivers the emails we send.
- The map provider supplies the map images. Like any website, it sees your IP address when your browser loads them.
Some of these services may store data outside Australia. Pitch information comes from OpenStreetMap and public club lists, and some photos from free photo libraries; none of that is about you.
Deleting your account
Go to Settings → Profile → Delete account. This removes your account along with your reviews, photos, check-ins, answers, saved pitches, clubs and feedback. Reports and club suggestions you sent are kept so the site stays accurate, but without your name. You can also edit or delete a review, or change your name and email, at any time.
Children
If you’re under 15, please ask a parent or guardian before you create an account.
